Find out about us

Egham Boxing

Egham Boxing is a community-focused boxing club with three key aims: developing the fundamental skills of boxing, building an inclusive, safe and supportive community environment, whilst enhancing the physical and mental wellness of the person.
We were founded in January 2024 and we have worked very hard to establish ourselves within the Egham community and to affiliate ourselves to boxing’s National Governing Body, England boxing. This ensures that all our coaches are appropriately qualified, with necessary DBS, safeguarding and first aid qualifications.

Our Senior Head Coach, Richard Johnson, has been coaching for 10 years, creating and leading boxing clubs in FE and sixth form colleges and primary schools, whilst coaching in local boxing clubs. Richard’s day-to-day role as a teacher in Sports & Exercise Science allows him to carefully deliver the technical skills of boxing, whilst possessing an enhanced understanding of the biomechanical and physiological demands of the sport.

Our Junior & Youths Head Coaches, Charley Garrett & Malakai Bodkin, are both aspiring boxers who have boxed from an early age. Together, they have both worked with Richard for 4 years now, forming a formidable coaching team, offering different styles and skillsets to give a bigger boxing scope. Both are excited to compete under the England Boxing affiliation during the 25-26 season, leading by example. Both are England boxing Level 1 coaches, with every intention to earn their Level 2 qualifications in the near future.
